Jack Wallace Memorial Track Refurbishment Project
A Campaign to Revitalize Oak Bay’s Jack Wallace Memorial Track
• The Jack Wallace Memorial Track fundraising campaign is a community effort to resurface the Oak Bay High School track.
• The project is in response to the continuing degeneration of the track which was resurfaced in 1994 for the Commonwealth Games.
* The project logo, displayed above, was designed by Kyla Younger (Grad 2021)
• A community committee was struck in 2021 and is guided by a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with School District #61 and the Oak Bay Rotary Foundation. Other stakeholders to this MOU are the District of Oak Bay and the Oak Bay High School Alumni Association.
• Our goal is to raise $830K for the completion of the resurfacing and upgrade requirements. Current estimates for the total project are $1.1 Million.
• To date this group of committed stakeholders has raised $270K. Near-term fundraising initiatives include; partnering with the Oak Bay Rotary Club for a series of No Sort Bottle drives to kick off the campaign and partnering with the Oak Bay Firefighters Foundation who designated their charitable fundraising for 2022 towards the Jack Wallace Track Project. Other donor strategies continue to be worked on at the committee level.
