Welcome to the Oak Bay High School Alumni Association Website
History of the Oak Bay High School Alumni Association (OBHSAA)
The Oak Bay High Alumni Association was formed after the 75th Reunion of the school was held in 2005. An active group of
alumni raised $75,000 at the reunion and drew up the plan to form an Association. The money they raised was placed in trust in an endowment fund so
that these funds would be invested to provide for the future benefit of the school and its students.
When class reunions are held, alumni have donated money to support the school and its students. Many have also expressed an interest in
providing bequests and directed charitable donations for special projects.
To date, more than $60,000 has been given back to the school through annual scholarships, bursaries and departmental grants. The endowment
fund made a significant contribution to the "Keys to Our Success" campaign and the purchase of a Steinway concert piano for the Dave
Dunnet Community Theatre. Currently the school is raising funds for the "Keeping Our Community On Track" campaign to resurface the Jack Wallace
track.
Goals
- To communicate with our members, the community and the general public about the role of the Association;
- To keep our membership informed on Association activities via our website and newsletter;
- To ensure continuing funding for scholarships, bursaries and special projects for the school;
- To broaden our base of membership so that all former graduates are aware of the Association and the work it does to support Oak Bay High School and its students.
